English Country Dance – Tuesday, Feb. 13 at Fort Loudoun (6:30pm to 8:00pm). 423-420-2331
18th century colonial life, whether in the city, frontier, or wilderness, was hard. Families worked hard just to survive. Though their bodies labored, their souls found replenishment through games, song and dance. The socialization and comradery provided by group activities, such as the Virginia Reel, helped form the bonds of friendships while also renewing the spirits of individuals and strengthening the sense of community.
This interactive program touches on the history of the dance, but focuses primarily on teaching the easy steps. Be prepared to move and have a good time. Partners are not required. Meet at the visitor’s center.
Please pre-register 423-420-2331. Cost is $5.
