An Introduction to Ruth’s Golden Aster – Sunday, Oct. 20 (11:00am to 12:00pm). 423-263-0050
Here we go, it is that time of year again when we get to see our little endangered flower bloom-out some pretty yellow petals! At this program you will get to discover just what makes this tough little flower so special to all of us here in Polk County. Ruth’s Golden Aster is found only on the Hiwassee & Ocoee Rivers and NO WHERE ELSE in the entire world!
As you participate, Ranger Jeremy will do his best to raise awareness of the flower and share how we all can play a roll in conservation to further protect it. Ranger Jeremy will also disclose just where someone could observe the flower along both the Hiwassee and the Ocoee River. He will also be selling Ruth’s Golden Aster patches and stickers for ($5.00 cash) a piece at the program. The patches make a perfect addition to any paddlers PFD/life-jacket. All are invited to come out and show your support!
We will meet at the pavilion, near the put-in at Rogers Branch/Middle Ocoee Put-in which is right along Hwy 64 at 11:00am.
